HMR Closing

We are all heartbroken that HMR will be closing its business after nearly 40 years. Like so many others, we have faced significant financial challenges brought on since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Primary among them is the significant cost increase to produce, package, and ship our food. We made the challenging decision earlier this year to raise prices, but it didn’t cover our additional costs and our business became unsustainable. Please note that our HMR Licensees (HMR Clinic Programs) are each making future decisions for their clinics. Please check in with your clinic to learn of their specific plans.
Once the decision was made to close HMR, things moved fast, so we let our community know as soon as possible. And for what it’s worth, we’re glad you took the step to start the program and focus on your weight and health. We are committed to continuing to support you as best we can. For now, you can continue to follow the program, using the Support Resources on our website.

We’ve also compiled all of our most helpful program tools and resources all in one place, and made them all downloadable. Download by 12/15.
We will be fulfilling all auto-delivery orders that had a scheduled order date through Thursday, November 10th. All pending orders dated through November 10th were processed on November 14th.

On Friday, November 11th, HMR's auto-delivery program was ended. As such, orders dated November 11th and forward will not be processed. We will open our website for “a la carte” ordering in the near future, hopefully by the end of the month. Please check back here for updates.

We are working hard to find a way to make HMR products available to you long-term, so please stay tuned for more information.

In the meantime, we’ve worked with our Product and Nutrition team to put together this guide to help you choose comparable alternatives. And remember, the cornerstone of a healthy diet is lots of produce, so be sure to round out your meals with lots of fruits and vegetables for a balanced and filling diet.

Please note: Since we cannot fully examine all meal replacements on the market, we ask that you use this as a guide, and be sure to review all nutrition information and ingredients on products that you choose to use. Also, be sure to check in with your Health Care Provider as you continue to lose weight, as your health status and medication needs could be affected by fluctuations in your weight or changes in your diet and physical activity.
The HMR app and website will remain active until mid-December. After that we will shut it down and remove it from the app stores. If you would like to download your data and weight history from the HMR App, we've put together simple instructions for you to do that. Be sure to download anything you want to keep by December 15th.

Since tracking is a key driver of behavior change and building healthy habits, we recommend that you continue to track your food and exercise using other means. We have downloadable tracking sheets for Phase 1 and Phase 2, but you should also check out other mobile apps for tracking. We’ve found apps such as MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, and MyPlate Calorie Tracker all user-friendly and free, with the option to upgrade to a paid version if you want more bells and whistles. Look for a tracking tool that allows you to track your food, exercise, and any other healthy habits.

If you’ve got some momentum going with your weight loss, we understand why you may not want to go off the diet at this time. You can continue doing the Healthy Solutions diet, self-directed, as long as you are able to consume at least 3 Shakes, 2 Entrees, and 5 cups of fruits/vegetables every day. You will need to transition off the diet once the HMR Shakes and Entrees are no longer available. At that point, you could also substitute alternative meal replacements, as long as you read labels carefully, and are sure to check in with your Health Care Provider as you continue to lose weight, as your health status and medication needs could be affected by fluctuations in your weight or changes in your physical activity.
We encourage you to keep up as many of the behaviors you learned in the program: Use meal replacements to manage calories, eat lots of fruits and vegetables (aim for at least 5 full cup servings per day), consistent physical activity, continue to track your healthy behaviors on paper or using another app… MyFitnessPal, LoseIt!, MyPlate, etc. Also, be sure to check in with your Health Care Provider as you continue to lose weight, as your health status and medication needs could be affected by fluctuations in your weight or changes in your physical activity.
Orders placed on or after November 11, 2022 are final sale. No refunds will be processed for these orders. If you have any questions about this Policy or processing your returned HMR Product(s), please leave us a voicemail at 800-418-1367, and someone will return your message as soon as possible. If you purchased HMR meal replacement products from this website on or prior to November 10, 2022, and you're not completely satisfied, we will gladly offer you a full refund for qualified returns of your purchases. (Shipping costs are nonrefundable.) In order to qualify for a refund, HMR must receive the returned HMR Products within sixty (60) days of your purchase. Sixty days is counted beginning with the day of your purchase.

HMR Meal Replacements

Yes. The HMR 70 Plus Shake is our lactose-free option, available in Chocolate and Vanilla flavors. The following HMR Entrees are also lactose-free: Vegetable Stew with Beef, Turkey Chili, and Whole Grain Medley. The HMR Fruit & Nut Protein Bar is also lactose-free.

All HMR Shakes (excluding HMR 500 Chicken Soup) are made without gluten-containing ingredients (wheat, barley, rye, oats, or with ingredients derived from these grains). The following 4 HMR Entrees are also made without gluten-containing ingredients, and may be tolerated by people who follow gluten-free diets: Fiesta Chicken, Chicken with Barbeque Sauce with Rice and Beans, Mushroom Risotto, and Turkey Chili with Beans. It’s important to note that HMR products are not made in gluten-free facilities and have not been evaluated under the FDA’s gluten-free regulations. Not unless you want to! HMR Shakes can be whipped up in a blender with just ice and water, and HMR Entrees can be heated in a microwave—both in just a minute. But you can also explore an endless variety of delicious and simple recipes—online, in our community , or in the HMR Recipe Book you receive when you join the program. HMR Entrees are all shelf-stable and do not require refrigeration. The Entrees are packaged using "retort processing", a common technique that is similar to canning. This process helps retain natural juices and flavors, keeps the food fresh, and gives the product a long shelf life.
While you’re in the weight-loss phase of the program, the focus is on helping you reach your goal weight – and numerous studies have found meal replacements to be among the most effective tools for weight loss. But the ultimate goal of the program is to help you establish an overall healthier lifestyle, including a healthy eating plan you can live with over the long term—a plan consistent with the Mediterranean and DASH diets, some of healthiest eating patterns in the world. The Phase 2 Maintenance plan is designed to support long-term weight management.

All HMR Shakes, Multigrain Hot Cereal, and Bars are certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union. Each item has the symbol Kosher Dairy Symbol to indicate the product is Kosher Dairy. HMR 500 Chicken Soup Mix and HMR Entrees are not Kosher. HMR products are not Kosher for Passover.
